MARENGO – City officials on Monday revealed a blueprint that details a dramatic transformation of the small, rural town in 10 to 15 years. It hinges greatly on developing a full Interstate 90/Route 23 interchange.

Flanked by representatives of HR Green, a private planning firm, City Manager Gary Boden introduced plans that would expand city limits to the south and west, with the priority of developing areas along Route 23 all the way to I-90.

The plan would require the city to annex properties, attract industries, and win the support of the Illinois Tollway Authority to build an interchange where there is no direct access to I-90.
