Mental health task force to meet
WOODSTOCK – Social service agencies have been scrambling to find help for thousands of clients left without it after the closing of Family Service and Community Mental Health Center.
McHenry County Board members and social service providers hope to ensure that what happened to the agency is one incident and not the first domino toppled by bad economic times, high demand and chronically late state aid payments.
They are convening Thursday in the first meeting of the new Community Behavioral Health Safety Net Task Force. It will study the impact of the closure, identify other at-risk agencies, and show the community the impact of having fewer mental health services available, said Sandy Lewis, executive director of the McHenry County Mental Health Board.
