Quinn signs legislation for crime victims
CHICAGO (AP) — Legislation that state leaders say helps protect crime victims is now law.
Gov. Pat Quinn signed three bills Monday that beef up existing laws and practices.
Under one new law, enforcement officers have to provide a copy of victim rights within 48 hours of first contact and explain assistance that victims might qualify for under the Crime Victims Compensation Act.
