Message of love
To the Editor:
My grandfather, Anton Rebel, passed away this past week. He was a hero by my definition. He fought in World War II, surviving some of the most gruesome battles in the Pacific: Tinian, Saipan, and Iwo Jima.
He settled in McHenry and immediately became very active in the community, caring for the well-being of everyone in the area. He helped clean up Boone Creek and often wrote letters to the Northwest Herald voicing his concern for others.
