Huntley expects lower electricity bills in August

HUNTLEY – When residents open their ComEd electricity bills in August, they should see a lower expense thanks to an agreement that allows local governments to bargain for reduced rates.

For the past few months, residents have been asked by Direct Energy to either opt out or automatically enroll in a program that saves Huntley consumers nearly three cents a kilowatt an hour over ComEd’s going rate.

The village, along with four neighboring communities, joined an electricity rate bargaining group, following the wishes of voters in March.
