Library signs

To the Editor:

Thirty years ago, the National Library Symbol was designed to increase public awareness of libraries. This graphic representation triggers instant recognition that a library is nearby. I wish to commend Marc Munaretto, County Board member, for his supportive assistance in facilitating the replacement of these valuable directional signs on Randall Road and Harnish Drive for the Algonquin Area Public Library.

These signs were removed for an intersection upgrade at the JCPenney shopping center several years ago. Even learning they were discretionary signs, he still requested the Division of Transportation to consider replacement.  They were replaced on June 15. His interest in our issues and willingness to act in our behalf with such quick results is most gratifying. His tireless service to the county these past 14 years is much appreciated.
