McHENRY – Texting while driving was the apparent cause of a two-vehicle crash on Route 31 that sent one person to the hospital, according to the McHenry Police Department.

John H. Walkosz, 20, of Richmond, was cited for illegal use of a communication device and improper lane usage following the accident Wednesday morning near the 1500 block of Route 31.

Walkosz was traveling north on Route 31 when his vehicle entered the southbound lane and struck two vehicles, according to a news release. One of the vehicles proceeded to leave the roadway and strike a fire hydrant.
