Storms blast through McHenry County

CRYSTAL LAKE – A line of thunderstorms Wednesday night brought heavy rain and strong winds to some parts of McHenry County and left a trail of downed tree limbs and power outages.

The storms dumped as much as two inches of rain in less than an hour in some parts of northern McHenry County, said National Weather Service meteorologist Ben Deubelbeiss.

Wind gusts of up to 52 mph were reported north of Marengo and fallen trees and limbs up to six-inches in diameter were reported east of Hebron. Other, minor damage was reported across northern Illinois, Deubelbeiss said.
