United Way falls ‘a little bit short’

McHENRY – The United Way of Greater McHenry County fell short of its $1.8 million annual campaign goal, officials announced Thursday.

The United Way closed its 2011-12 campaign, raising $1,568,660, or 87.1 percent of its goal. The campaign began July 1, 2011, and closed June 30.

“Any time you fall short, it’s disappointing,” said Steve Otten, the agency’s executive director. “That said, we still managed to raise a lot of money and help out a lot of agencies.”
