Former fugitive gets 4 years on cocaine charge

WOODSTOCK – A man once considered one of McHenry County's top 10 fugitives was sentenced Friday to four years in prison.

Jeremiah B. Pedersen, 29, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession with intent to deliver after police said they found 9.5 grams of cocaine under his driver's seat during a traffic stop May 17. A K-9 unit had alerted officers to the drug.

Pedersen also pleaded guilty to aggravated battery in a March 2008 incident in which prosecutors said he punched a man in the face near the Woodstock Square. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and given credit for time served.
