Open house scheduled at 2 McHenry County historical sites
MARENGO – The McHenry County Historical Society and members of the Wilson/Weyland family of Marengo will host a free open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 5 at two nearby historical sites.
Both sites, the 1867 limestone Pringle one-room schoolhouse and the pre-Civil War Stewart’s Scottish Cemetery, are north of Marengo on River Road.
Pringle School, owned by the historical society, is about a quarter of a mile west of Route 23. The cemetery is on the Ted Wilson farm at 20916 River Road, just east of Route 23.
