Founders' Days kicks off Thursday in Algonquin (with schedule)

The 53rd annual Algonquin Founders' Days will take place Thursday through Sunday at Towne Park, 100 Jefferson St., Algonquin.

The festival includes a carnival, Taste of Founders, live bands, a cardboard boat regatta, a social garden, children's activities, games, a parade, fireworks, food and more.

Events run from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday, from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is free on Thursday; the cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children ages 4 to 12 on Friday and Saturday; and $2 for adults and $1 for children on Sunday.

• 4 to 6 p.m. – Carnival for special kids

• 4 to 6:30 p.m. – Cardboard Boat Regatta

• 6 to 10 p.m. – Carnival for all (wristbands)

• 7 to 7:30 p.m. – Opening ceremonies

• 7:30 to 9 p.m. – Pirates Over 40 (presented by Village of Algonquin)

• 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. – Social garden open

• 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. – Designated driver program

• 10 p.m. – Towne Park closes

July 27

• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Founders’ Market and Bazaar

• 9 to 10 a.m. – Dog & Cat Show registration

• 10 a.m. to noon – Dog & Cat Show

• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Children’s games

• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Moonwalk

• 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. – A Zoo to You family petting zoo

• 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. – Taste of Founders’

• 11 a.m. – Bake-off registration

• Noon – Bake-off judging

• Noon to 5 p.m. – Carnival (wristbands)

• 1 p.m. – Bike decorating contest

• 8 a.m. – Boy Scout Troop 151 Pancake Breakfast

• 8 a.m. – Founders’ Run: 1 Mile

• 8:30 a.m. – Founders’ Run: 10K and 5K

• 8:40 a.m. – Founders’ 5K walk

• 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – A Zoo to You family petting zoo

• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – IL Chip Program - Free child identification rogram (Presented by Illinois Freemasons and Nunda Lodge No. 169)

• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Kids Kraft Korner

• 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Carnival (wristbands)

• Noon to 1 p.m. – Algonquin Events and Recreation Dept. Village Summer Dance Recital

• Noon to 4 p.m. – Caricature artists and face painters

• Noon to 5 p.m. – Taste of Founders’

• 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Social garden open

• 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Designated driver’s program
