Founders' Days kicks off Thursday in Algonquin (with schedule)
The 53rd annual Algonquin Founders' Days will take place Thursday through Sunday at Towne Park, 100 Jefferson St., Algonquin.
The festival includes a carnival, Taste of Founders, live bands, a cardboard boat regatta, a social garden, children's activities, games, a parade, fireworks, food and more.
Events run from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday, from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is free on Thursday; the cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children ages 4 to 12 on Friday and Saturday; and $2 for adults and $1 for children on Sunday.

July 26
• 4 to 6 p.m. – Carnival for special kids
• 4 to 6:30 p.m. – Cardboard Boat Regatta
• 5 to 10 p.m. – Taste of Founders’
• 6 to 10 p.m. – Carnival for all (wristbands)
• 7 to 7:30 p.m. – Opening ceremonies
• 7:30 to 9 p.m. – Pirates Over 40 (presented by Village of Algonquin)
• 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. – Social garden open
• 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. – Designated driver program
• 10 p.m. – Towne Park closes
