Our view: Lax boating, drinking law
Drinking and driving don’t mix. Illinois has strong laws to discourage drunken driving and punish violators.
Drinking and boating also don’t mix, but the laws aren’t nearly as tough.
That may be one reason for an increase in the number of boating deaths linked to alcohol on state rivers, streams and lakes.
