McHENRY – Three years ago, Joey Fisher was born with a rare series of birth defects that have required him to be a regular at hospitals.
He has endured many complications, including malrotated intestines, heart defects, scoliosis and a tethered spinal cord.
Doctors have diagnosed the 3-year-old with VACTERL association, an acronym for a related series of defects that have required numerous surgeries, including a back surgery scheduled for August.
