Company may seek more mining time from Cary

CARY – Unless the economy improves, Meyer Material Co. might have to come back and ask for an extension of mining operations.

During an annual update to the Cary Village Board, Randi Willie, the manager of Environmental and Land Services for Meyer, said the construction industry continues to struggle, and prices for mined materials continue to drop.

“We have three-and-half years of horrible data, and if it continues, we will have to come back and show you five or six years,” Willie said. “Our concrete business is in a deflationary position. Prices keep getting lower as the volumes get smaller.”
