Dunn belting homers at torrid pace
CHICAGO – At this rate, White Sox designated hitter Adam Dunn will set a new career high for home runs in a season.
With his game-tying two-run homer in the seventh inning, Dunn became the fourth fastest to hit 30 home runs for the Sox based on the number of games, 97. Frank Thomas was the fastest, doing it in the 81st game of 1994.
Dunn did it in Tuesday’s 11-4 win against the Minnesota Twins. He is one of four left-handed hitters in franchise history to reach 30 home runs in a season joining Jim Thome (2006, ’07, ’08), Robin Ventura (1996) and Oscar Gamble (1977).
