Huntley residents mostly in Centegra's corner

HUNTLEY – Many Huntley residents are looking forward to a full-service hospital near their doorstep, while others fear that an additional hospital will draw patients away from existing providers.

Generally, though, Huntley residents on Wednesday were supportive of a state panel's decision that allows Centegra Health System to build a $233 million, 128-bed hospital at Haligus and Reed roads.

The hospital will be nearly five miles from the Del Webb Sun City retirement community that houses more than 9,000 senior citizens in Huntley. Such accessibility has Del Webb resident Lou Farinella eagerly waiting for construction to start.
