Carnival thrills special-needs kids on day 1
ALGONQUIN – Jordan Janus had his mouth wide open in joy as he glided around the Dragon Wagon, a small children’s roller coaster.
Jordan, 12, has autism and Down syndrome, and repeatedly rode the Dragon Wagon without the need to get off so other people could ride, said Shellise Janus, Jordan’s mom of Carpentersville.
The Janus family was one of the families at Thursday’s Carnival for Special Kids – part of the kickoff of the annual Founders’ Days celebration. Founders’ Days continues through Sunday.
