Murder-by-fire attempt gets CL woman 14 years
WOODSTOCK – A Crystal Lake woman was sentenced Thursday to 14 years in prison for trying to kill her boyfriend by setting fire to their town house as he slept inside.
In May, a jury found Carrie M. Gil, 47, guilty of attempted murder, aggravated arson and residential arson in the Sept. 27, 2010, incident. She had faced between six and 30 years in prison.
The victim, Jonathan Davis, briefly took the stand during sentencing. His statement was read aloud by prosecutors.
