WWII vets to go to D.C.

CARY – The Veterans Network Committee of Northern Illinois is sending six local World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., on Friday as sponsors of an Honor Flight.

Committee members and the veterans will board a bus at 8 a.m. at the Fifth Third Bank in Cary for the two-night, three-day trip. The group will go to General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee and fly with chaperones to Washington to visit the World War II Memorial.

The group will return Sunday to a welcome home party organized by the Veterans Network Committee and local Warriors’ Watch Riders. The party will be from 3 to 7 p.m. at Wool Street Grill and Sports Bar, 800 Feinberg Court, Cary.
