Fire damages garage in CL
CRYSTAL LAKE – A Saturday afternoon fire caused $80,000 in property damage to a detached, four-car garage off Terra Cotta Road, leaving the roof partially collapsed, according to a Crystal Lake Fire Rescue news release.
The department responded at 1:09 p.m. to a report of smoke and flames billowing from the rear of the garage near a home at 4009 Terra Cotta Road. When firefighters arrived at the scene, the garage’s roof already had partially collapsed.
Crews fought the fire defensively to prevent the entire roof from falling onto the ground and setting off ammunition that was reportedly being stored inside the garage.
