Change drivers

To the Editor:

At a recent campaign speech, President Barack Obama said, when speaking about the economy, “just like we tried their plan, we tried our plan – and it worked.”

His plan has resulted in 41 consecutive months of unemployment above 8 percent, one in seven Americans on food stamps (cost of program went from $39 billion when he took office to more than $80 billion today), more than 46 million Americans living at or below the poverty level, and a $5 trillion increase in the nation’s debt.

The natural question to ask is, “So what is the end goal of his plan?” Couple this with those off teleprompter utterances: “At some point, you’ve made enough money”; “The private sector is doing fine, it’s the public sector that needs help”; and, of course, “You didn’t build that.”

The picture that comes to mind for me is that he is fundamentally transforming America into a nation of people who are dependent on a top-down authoritarian government for their very subsistence. If you are among the majority of Americans who believe our country is headed in the wrong direction, then it is your duty to change drivers this November.
