Former Waukegan mayoral candidate going to prison

WAUKEGAN, Ill. — Lake County prosecutors say a former Waukegan mayoral candidate must serve a three-year prison sentence for arson before he can be confronted by Canadian authorities who say he's a person of interest in an arson and murder case.

Gregory Flesher has pleaded guilty to setting fire to a vacant Salvation Army facility in Waukegan in May 2011.

Assistant State's Attorney Reginald Mathews on Tuesday said Flesher committed the arson while suffering a bipolar episode.
