If Diane Spengel of McHenry was nervous after her first-round lead in the third flight of the 38th annual McHenry Women’s Invitational golf tournament, she sure didn’t show it.

Spengel played in the final group on the second day of the two-day tournament after shooting an 89 Monday. With much more difficult conditions and pin placements Tuesday, Spengel backed up her score with a 94, good enough for a 183 and a four-shot victory in her flight.

“There’s a little bit of pressure coming in with the lead,” Spengel said. “You just have to mentally block everything out and play your game.”
