Police link men in fatal getaway crash to Chemung robbery

CHEMUNG – At least two of three Rockford men who robbed an Antioch gas station and then crashed their car were responsible for a series of armed robberies, including one in Chemung, police said Wednesday.

Kenneth Cooper, 33, and Cortez C. Holliman, 25, are charged with armed robbery and theft. A third man with them was killed in the crash.

On July 13, police were called to the Chemung Country Store at 24102 Route 173. According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, one man asked to buy a pack of cigarettes, and as the cashier turned around, the man brandished a handgun and demanded cash.
