To the Editor:

This past week, my credit card was stolen. Despite my credit card stating, “See ID,” on the back, several businesses within Crystal Lake still accepted this card as a legal transaction.

Fellow residents, please contact your local and national legislators to escalate consumer protections so that businesses will take credit card fraud seriously. Businesses should not accept credit cards without signature or proof of identification. When businesses violate this, they become no better than criminals.
