Movie review: ‘Total Recall’ (VIDEO REVIEW)
On one level, once you replace Arnold Schwarzenegger with a genuine actor in a remake of “Total Recall,” you’ve already made improvements.
Colin Farrell now stars as the desperate hero who begins to sense his memories aren’t real, and he brings an everyman quality to the role that clearly could not be true of the 1990 Schwarzenegger version. Farrell also allows his cast mates to give more naturalistic performance and deliver dialogue more believable and relaxed. Largely (but not totally) because of its star, the first film was pitched at a comic-book level.
