To the Editor:

The past few weeks there has been a tsunami of campaign messages and more to come, I am sure. Neither party has a monopoly on the act of lying, distorting the facts, embellishing their record, only giving part of the story, being critical of their opponents but not sharing what they will do if elected, etc.

I recall many Olympics ago, the American team standard bearer did not dip the American flag as he passed the official reviewing stand (breaking a longstanding tradition), and when asked, he said something along the lines of “...this flag dips for no one.” He did not apologize or bow to anyone for being proud of his country!
