Trip honors Woodstock men for WWII service

WOODSTOCK – For two McHenry County men, the welcome home they received Wednesday night was far better than the one they should have had when they returned home from service more than 60 years ago.

Glen Fringer and Norm Carr, both of Woodstock, are World War II veterans who were treated to an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in one whirlwind and unforgettable day. The men caught an early morning Chicago-to-D.C. flight from Midway International Airport and returned the same day.

They visited landmarks including the World War II, Lincoln, Vietnam War and Korean War memorials, and visited the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
