Algonquin woman charged in farm stand robbery
CRYSTAL LAKE – An Algonquin woman has been charged after police said she robbed a farm stand at knife-point Thursday afternoon.
Amy M. Migliorato, 28, 5 Arrowhead Drive, was charged with one count of robbery, a Class 2 felony typically punishable by up to seven years in prison.
About 4:14 p.m. Thursday, Crystal Lake police were dispatched to Cody's Farm Stand, located on the property of 140 S. Virginia St.
The victim, a 20-year-old farm stand employee, said he was approached by the woman, who showed him a knife and demanded money.
According to the criminal complaint, she took about $140.
The employee provided a description and with the help of other witnesses, Migliorato was located.
Crystal Lake police obtained a search warrant for a room at the Crystal Lake Motel, which had evidence linking Migliorato to the robbery, they said.
She was arrested and transferred to the McHenry County Jail. Her bond was set at $50,000 bond and she remained in custody Friday afternoon.
Court records show Migliorato was sentenced to six months of supervision in 2007 for disorderly conduct. She also has 2008 convictions for possession of drug paraphernalia and theft, plus a supervision sentence for destroying evidence.
Last year, she was convicted of retail theft and given credit for 60 days served. She was ordered to undergo drug and alcohol treatment.
