Marengo Park District on the mend
MARENGO – As deficits climbed and services languished, the Marengo Park District last year went without its annual summer festival that historically included a one-day affair complete with carnival rides, food vendors and other activities for residents.
Earlier in 2011, the district’s financial woes culminated with decisions to eliminate its full-time administrator, and close its day care facility and swimming pool.
But after a dramatic house cleaning, the district is on the rebound.
