Playground equipment in LITH damaged by fire

LAKE IN THE HILLS – Playground equipment at Barbara Key Park was damaged Thursday night in a fire, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to 9191 Pyott Road about 9:30 p.m. for a report of playground equipment on fire, according to the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District. Crews arrived to find a slide engulfed in flames.

A damage estimate was unavailable, said Sgt. Terri Vollmer of the Lake in the Hills Police Department. A portion of the playground equipment has been closed off.

The origin is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
