Jacobs grad competes in Olympic Games' steeplechase today
Jacobs High School boys track and field coach Jason Borhart remembers the conversations he had with assistant coach Kevin Christian several years ago about a certain athlete.
“I told Kevin, he’s a once-in-a-lifetime kid for us,” Borhart said. “It’s more than that [now]. Most coaches will never have anyone close to his ability.”
Borhart was speaking of distance runner Evan Jager, who will run in the Olympic Games’ men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase final today in London. Jager has run the steeplechase only six times, but should contend for a medal in the race.
