11-year-old boy dies in Chicago house fire

CHICAGO — Officials say an 11-year-old boy has died in a house fire on Chicago's South Side.

Authorities with the Chicago Fire Department say the blaze was Sunday night. They say firefighters found the boy near the entrance to the kitchen on the home's first floor. The Cook County medical examiner identified the boy as Sergio Pedroza. The home is in the city's Little Village neighborhood.

Fire officials say there were no working smoke detectors in the home. The cause of the fire wasn't known and is under investigation.
