CL police look into 3 car fires

CRYSTAL LAKE – Three separate car fires are being investigated as suspicious, according to the Crystal Lake Police Department.

Authorities were called to the first block of Talcott Drive about 5 a.m. for a report of a motor vehicle on fire, according to a news release. Crews arrived to find a boat and SUV engulfed in flames in a driveway.

The boat and vehicle were destroyed by the fire, and a home and truck parked nearby suffered minor damage from the heat.

Investigators later were notified about a fire in the 600 block of Primrose Lane, where a Jeep was broken into and set on fire, police said. The fire did not spread and damage was minimal. A separate vehicle nearby also was broken into.

A resident in the first block of Talcott Drive reported a third car fire. According to police, the resident said someone had set her vehicle on fire, damaging it.

No injuries were reported during any of the fires. The investigation is ongoing.
