WOODSTOCK – Two Palatine brothers have been charged after police said they tried to solicit a teen – who turned out to be an undercover investigator – for sex.

Rick Joe Corbin, 47, of 525 N. Quinten Apt. 308, and Thomas P. Corbin, 54, with a last known address at the same location, were both charged with traveling to meet a minor, solicitation to meet a minor, and grooming.

The most serious offense is a Class 3 felony, typically punishable by up to five years in prison.

In July, a McHenry County Sheriff's Office investigator posed as a 16-year-old girl on Facebook and was contacted by Thomas Corbin, according to a news release.

In conversations between Corbin and the "girl," Corbin allegedly arranged for her to meet at a hotel, where he would provide drugs and alcohol, police said.

Thomas Corbin then made arrangements for his brother, Rick Corbin, to contact her. Rick Corbin and the "girl" then also had conversations, and Rick Corbin reserved a hotel room at an undisclosed location in McHenry.

On Friday, the meeting was set up between the undercover investigator and the two men at the hotel. They arrived at the location and were taken into custody without incident.

Bond was set at $60,000 for both men and they remained at the McHenry County Jail on Monday.

Thomas Corbin also had an outstanding warrant for alleged parole violation.

The Illinois Department of Corrections lists Thomas Corbin as an "absconder." Records show he was sentenced to one year in prison on a Kane County theft charge, as well as three years for drug charges out of Cook County.

He was paroled on March 23.

The next scheduled court date for both men is Thursday.
