Algonquin man charged with transporting child porn

ROCKFORD – An Algonquin man was indicted Tuesday on federal child pornography charges.

John Carlson, 37, is charged with two counts of transporting child pornography via the Internet and one count of possessing child pornography that had crossed state lines.

If convicted, Carlson faces a maximum sentence on each count of up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release after imprisonment, and a fine up to $250,000.

Another man, Jason Nicoson, 34, of Roscoe, also was indicted on the same charges but in a separate case.

The Algonquin Police Department, Illinois State Police, and Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce assisted with the investigations.
