McHenry to celebrate 'Keep the Spirit of '45 Alive' day
Feel the spirit the country felt at the end of World War II as McHenry observes a national day of remembrance honoring “The Greatest Generation.”
The third annual “Keep The Spirit of ’45 Alive” event takes place 5 p.m. Aug. 12 at Veteran’s Memorial Park, Park and Pearl streets in McHenry.
With a swing band, a rifle salute, “Taps,” the release of 21 “White Doves of Peace” and a ceremony, this year’s remembrance is expected to be the biggest yet.
