Not the answer

To the Editor:

A letter to “It’s Your Write” (Services stimulate, Aug. 1) advocates bailing out public services with more taxes. The writer actually mentioned public services three times in her letter, so she must really feel it was the most important thing in the letter.

Taxpayers don’t mind paying for actual public services, it’s the government waste that is objectionable. For instance (one of many), the land line/cellphone fiasco whereby free cellphones were given to the needy, although we know there’s no such thing as “free.” Public service scams like this abound, and we, the taxpayers, shell out. How’s that for public service?
