Taxed with a vengeance
To the Editor:
Our elected lawmakers are doing it again, letting their emotions take the place of sanity. Bills are being introduced to exempt U.S. medal winners from paying taxes on the monetary honorarium earned for their “hard-earned medals.”
“Olympians who dedicate their lives to athletic excellence should not be punished when they achieve it,” Sen Mark Rubio, R-Fla., said recently. How ridiculous is this statement!
