Career politicians
To the Editor:
The state of Illinois is a mess. We have some of the worst schools in the country. They are funded by a tax system that is driving many residents out of their homes. Sales taxes are among the highest in the country, including the taxes on gasoline. The General Assembly recently raised the state income tax 67 percent. Unemployment is the highest in years. State government is corrupt. We are facing billions in unfunded pensions.
With all these issues and more, one would think that elected state officials would be hard at work and focused on saving our state. Not Jack Franks. He is concentrating on who sits as president of the McHenry County Board. That is not what he was elected for. He is not serving the voters’ best interests.
