CHICAGO — A 76-year-old Chicago woman has died from injuries suffered when a bus struck her as the driver attempted to make a turn on a downtown street.

Authorities say the side mirror of the empty Megabus struck the woman, identified late Tuesday by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Donna Halstead.

Chicago Police spokesman Officer Daniel O'Brien says the woman was in the crosswalk Tuesday when she was struck and knocked to the ground, hitting her head. She died later at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
