ComEd charges ahead with Huntley project
HUNTLEY – ComEd has started the final phase of its northwest power line project, installing mast poles along Kreutzer Road in Huntley this week, despite not having secured all of the land to complete the long-sought project.
ComEd is locked in a legal battle to gain control of at least six acres along the 266-acre Kreutzer family farm. ComEd has long targeted the six acres to complete the 12-mile-long project that connects an additional 138,000-volt power line to areas in southern McHenry and northern Kane counties.
The company’s effort has drawn the ire of the village and started a legal feud with the Kreutzers, who have historic roots in Huntley.
