RICHMOND – A motorcyclist was severely injured Sunday after being struck by a vehicle on Route 12, according to the Richmond Police Department.

Two separate groups of motorcyclists were traveling north on Route 12 near the Burlington Road split at around 11:30 p.m., according to police Chief John Fryksdale. As the groups reached the split in the roadway, one proceeded northwest on Route 12 while the other headed northeast on Burlington Road.

A vehicle simultaneous drove through the intersection and struck one of the motorcyclists, Fryksdale said. The extent of his injuries was unknown.
