No hole in one
To the Editor:
While it is natural for the Cary Park District Board to look at any potential recreational space, it is not fiscally responsible in the current economy to buy the Chalet Hills golf course. By taking the land off the tax rolls, taxing bodies including the district will have to make up the loss. The park district is the fourth-highest tax on our bill.
The golf course must generate enough fees to pay for itself. If it does not, the money would eventually come from taxes. Foxford Hills Golf Course, owned by the district, was not covering its audited expenses in 2011.
