Prairie Ridge teammate saw stardom in LePeilbet

Cheryl Sarnwick predicted soccer greatness for teammate Amy LePeilbet during their senior season at Prairie RIdge in 2000.

“I said, ‘You’re going to be on the [U.S.] national team,’ ” said Sarnwick, who was the Wolves’ goalkeeper. “I always knew she could do it.”

Sarnwick proved prophetic. LePeilbet, 30, has played off and on for the national team since 2004. The 2000 Prairie Ridge graduate will experience one of her biggest moments at 1:45 p.m. today when the U.S. faces Japan in the gold-medal match at the London Olympic Games.
