County as landfill?

To the Editor:

Why do we have to live by a landfill?

People recycle but can’t get – find – or use a garbage can.

The same people use sheds, garages, even their porches to store garbage and get away with it.

Yet the landlords won’t pay for a bug man to combat the excess of bugs, plus they are the ones who condone it. Also say it is OK to store garbage and no one’s business. These people are turning McHenry County into a landfill.

Why do some have to pay for garbage when others use storage or illegal dumping, but again this is OK.

When the health department does show up, they give them too much notice so they can dump or store it so it is not seen. But the next day, it all comes back – with a good laugh on the health department.

Every dwelling should have a place for garbage at the owners’ expense, not the tenants’.

Then maybe this area would be less of a health hazard and the beautiful area I had thought it was. This matter should not be swept under the rug.
