Fire renders house uninhabitable
Fire left a house in the Pistakee Highlands area uninhabitable early Thursday and is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
About 4:45 a.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District found two vehicles on fire at 5113 Westwood Drive in unincorporated McHenry County. The fire then extended to the house, Deputy Fire Chief Rudy Horist said.
Both vehicles were destroyed, and there was water, smoke and fire damage to the front exterior of the house. Horist said he did not have a damage estimate.
