Man arrested after brief chase

BULL VALLEY – A man who led a brief chase before crashing and fleeing on foot Wednesday was captured within about 15 minutes, police said.

About 7 p.m., a McHenry County sheriff’s deputy tried to stop a vehicle on the east side of Wonder Lake, Lt. John Miller said.

“When it became apparent there was going to be a pursuit, the sheriff’s department terminated because it didn’t fit our criteria for a vehicle pursuit,” Miller said.

Shortly after, Bull Valley police saw the vehicle on Ridge Road north of Bull Valley Road and initiated a pursuit, Miller said. The driver crashed in the 7600 block of Bull Valley Road and fled on foot. The man, whose name police declined to release, was captured near Draper Road about 15 minutes later. Bull Valley police declined to comment on the case.
