Man dies in crash near Harvard

HARVARD – A 30-year-old man died early this morning after the McHenry County Sheriffs said his car hit a tree northeast of town at the intersection of O'Brien Road and Nolan Street.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. today, Michael G. Doersam of Caledonia was going west in a 1997 Buick LeSable in the 17100 block of O’Brien Road, when the vehicle left the south side of the road for an unknown reason. The vehicle then struck a single tree on the south side of the intersection.

Doersam was pronounced dead at the scene. Airbags did deploy, but Doersam was not wearing his seatbelt, the sheriff's office said.

Toxicology results are pending, the sheriff's office said.

The crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
